G-Day Adrian,
Beautifully said and forever true. Children are amazing little Human Beings. Just being in the energy of a park filled with them can cure the worst ailments. In the case of my mother the reverse manifestation occurs, creating illness. All too common of an occurrence as we grow older. My children were rarely ill, their mother and I were health conscious people, we worked out regularly, ate well, and infused herbs into our daily diet and food preparation, with the focus on prevention of disease rather than curing once it hit. That and trying our best to set the example of what a healthy Human Being looks like.
But I personally also took examples from them. Raising them gave me the chance to see what happy kids look like, to relive mine, so to speak, they taught me to play, to laugh, and the art of really ' moving on ' from a negative experience once it was over. Even better, how to find the humor as it was happening " Lighten up Dad! " If we listen we hear pure gems of wisdom. I was walking in the woods once with my youngest - five at the time, and we got hit with a downpour of rain. " God is lucky " he said as we got soaked. " Why is that ?" " He lives inside us - he is staying dry."
Jesus always turned it back to us and away from him. Adrian is quite correct, as we age we can become cynical. Even after all my years of learning and relearning , I still can succumb to bouts of deep cynicism, old angers still bubble up and I loose sight of what I desire and can accomplish. My sarcastic wit disguising an ancient pain of doubt and lack of faith.
Children return me to faith, they never cease giving us life. Mine took from love as a desire in my life to a reality of motion in it.
WithIn Love
Darrell
