This was posted on another forum by Jobed and i believe it will be beneficial to you if you do it Wink

This thread is going to offer some insights and instruction on one of the most powerful and fundamental techniques in the tantric tradition: Transfiguration.

This technique, if practiced daily can be absolutely tranform your life. If you have any skill with internal energy work (Chi Kung, Hatha Yoga, etc), you will pick it up very easily and if you're real good at moving the energy around in your body, you can create a feeling of bliss rivaling the most powerful orgasms anytime you wish...almost instantly. It's quite nice if I do say so myself. grin

Recent neurophysiological research shows that behaviors and emotions which we are in most frequently actually can create a cyclical effect. What I mean by this is that particular emotions and behaviors are associated with activation in certain parts of the brain and certain synaptic pathways. By having that particular emotion frquently, it reinforces those pathways and areas of the brain. By doing this, you essentially make those pathways more effecient.

For instance, someone who is chronically depressed frequently activates pathways which reinforce that emotion and MAKE IT EASIER TO BE DEPRESSED.

If you're a fairly clever individual, you've probably already figured out where I'm going with this.

We can use this knowledge to our advantage as well. While science is only recently discovering these phenomena, practicioners of meditative traditions in the East have been putting this stuff into practice for millenia.

With this understanding, we can use techniques to generate positive emotions and consciously strengthen those beneficial pathways so that it becomes easier and easier to access the states and the emotions which we desire in our lives. Using these techniques, you can literally hard-wire into your brain any and all emotions and states which you desire. By doing this frequently, it will become your natural state.

Many studies have shown that long-time meditators actually have significant strucutral changes in their brains, ESPECIALLY in areas of the brain associated with happiness.

With practice, these techniques can be extraordinarily powerful tools to change your emotional states and also to become the person you want to be. Where your mind goes, energy flows.

The Most Powerful Technique in Tantra: Transfiguration

Think of the last time you let yourself get really steamed about something insignificant...

Maybe your spouse left the toilet seat up again. Maybe in her zeal to clean, your roommate threw out a newspaper or magazine you wanted...

and that one little thing just stuck in your craw for the rest of the day.

And it didn't just sit, did it? It festered. And it grew. And soon your bad feelings brought up the bad feelings from every previous time your loved one left the seat up, or threw something out. And your resentment, ill feelings, and anger grew. And then you started remembering other things he/she did "wrong" in the past...

In other words, here was a simple, small event. You took the feelings you associate with that simple, small event.

And you repeated them (the memory of the experience and the feelings), over and over in your mind,

adding more emotional content as you went,

and adding in more images (previous occurrences, or things that might have happened but didn't:

"what if he had thrown out something that really mattered?" "what if I fell in and got stuck?"), and added more emotions

until this one amplified event, and all of its emotional baggage, was your sole focus for the rest of the day.

And then what? Maybe you sulked. Maybe your picked a fight. Maybe you did something to "take a stand" or get even. And the event faded into the background, until the next time, and the pattern will start all over again, this time even more intense.

Now - if you allowed yourself to re-experience those feelings just now, having done this exercise with me here, you may have noticed the incredible power of your own mind to control your mood, activity, and relationships with others.

Especially when your mind combines memory, focused visualization, sensory input, and emotional content, and repeats and amplifies them all, over and over.

That is, after all, what you just did. And you probably realize that this "technique" has the power not only to change your perception of reality, but to actually change your reality itself.

If you chose not to dwell on the event, your day would've been fairly clear, and quite possibly fairly enjoyable.

But if you obsess, dwell on it, and amplify... your day went completely differently. You drove to work angry, or took it out on your kids, or picked a fight with the "guilty" party, or withheld affection, or withheld sex, etc...

And if you keep repeating the pattern, you may break up, or divorce. Now your little mental-and-emotional focus-amplify-and-repeat "technique" has radically altered the course of your day, week, or even life.

You may already do this mental technique out of habit, but it affects your mood, attitude, performance, and relationships with everyone in your life!

If this email is hitting close to home, then you have been doing the *reverse* of the most important technique in Tantra.

Tantra is known as the "transformation path". the most important technique in Tantra is called "transfiguration".

What does transfiguration mean?

According to the dictionary,

Transfigure (vt) : to change so as to glorify or exalt.

Reverse transfiguration, then, would be the process of changing so as to profane, disparage, or belittle. That's what we do when we obsess about the little, negative things that really don't matter - our pet peeves.

You've just seen the power of reverse transfiguration to destroy your mood, your day, and your relationships. Yeeech! Who wants that?

So, what then does the exceptional practitioner of tantra do differently? How can you completely change your mood, your day, your life, (and yes, s*ex too!) using the technique you already do, out of habit?

Well, if you already do the technique out of habit, then that means you're already a pro at it, right?!! We just need to tweak it a little so it gets the result you want...

Here's the little twist you'll put on it:

The exceptional practitioner transfigures a person or situation so as to glorify or exalt it's highest aspect, an aspect that already exists. And that higher aspect is always there - no matter how subtle or difficult to find...

So here's how you are going to make transfiguration your friend, instead of your undoing:

Find something wonderful (but real) that exists within a loved one, or, if you want to transfigure yourself, a trait that exists within you. Smile. The something can be subtle, or obvious. You can start with a feeling.

Be aware of that special something, however subtle it may be. Smile. Stay with the feeling. Circulate the feeling throughout your whole body. Smile.

Now amplify the feelings, and if other feelings like love, compassion, or awe, devotion, etc., appear, join them with the original feeling.

Continue to amplify, and gently send the good feelings back towards your loved one, and towards your own self-image.

Repeat, smile, amplify, give back, and enjoy, again and again. This is the simple version of transfiguration, but, like its reverse, it is extremely powerful.

Start with a feeling. Then expand it and give it back.

Do this positive transfiguration for at least a few minutes a day, everyday. This is real tantra. Transfigure your lover, your self, your "enemies", your friends. Transfigure politicians, or criminals. Transfigure your own concept of divinity, whatever that might be. Start with some small aspect, and expand from there!

Transfigure your lover before, during, and after you make love together. Without expectations! Transfigure the food you eat at mealtimes. Transfigure the act of sleeping.

An important point: Transfiguration is *not* fabrication and amplification of a false, fantasy version of the person or situation. This is what Freud calls "crystallization." Crystallization is not tantra! Transfiguration should not be an excuse to turn a blind eye to obstacles.

The point of transfiguration is to take something wonderful, however small it might be, something that is *already there* in the person or situation, to amplify that something, and to give it back, continuously. To live your life practically, aware of everything, while amplifying the exalted.

Your relationships will improve, your moods will improve, and your everyday life will effortlessly become a spiritual practice. Transfiguration can be done anywhere, anytime...

However, use some sense and don't do visualizations while operating heavy machinery!

Smile, breathe right, and keep your tongue up!

Your Friend,

Tao Semko

Tantra Tips: Transformation in Spirituality, S*ex, and Awareness
Expanding on Happiness and Memory...

Tantrics aim to expand their experience far beyond the realms of conventional human emotion and sensuality, aiming to achieve both oneness with the unnameable, and expansion of personality and experience beyond conventional limits all while here, in this body ...

As tantrics, we use any tools available to us... most importantly, our own experiences and memories.

By taking a feeling we have already experienced it, repeating, refreshing, and amplifying it continually, we stretch our personal interpretation of reality.

While others mull over their negative experiences, we as tantrics choose to re-experience and amplify the "positives," over and over in the mind and senses, intensifying good feelings and making them ever more concrete, palpable, and real, while our consciousness becomes ever more subtle...

Do happy amplifications every time you can remember to, multiple times a day, week for week...

Recall a specific time when you feel very happy, smiling, full of laughter...
Be there. Feel it.... use all of your senses as you step back into that joyful feeling...
See what you saw, there, in the same way.
Hear what you heard, the same way, feel what you felt, smell what you smelled, taste what you tasted, the same way...
Be there
Now, smiling and breathing gently but deeply from your lower belly, feel the feeling bigger, more joyful...
Now, smiling and breathing gently but deeply from your lower belly, feel the feeling bigger, more joyful...
It gets pleasantly more intense - you know how... maybe brighter, maybe softer, happier... subconciously, you feel what to do to increase happiness now
Now, feeling joyful feelings each breath as you smile, gently let go of the memory and be present here, now, whe re you are with that same joy
When your joy is lower, step back into the happy memory, intensify your joy, then let the memory go, step into the present moment, the present place, here, now, breathing and smiling and feeling that same happiness through yourself...
Stay with that feeling as long as you like, you like it, integrating it with what's around you, here, now, happy....
Refresh and renew it as often as you like -- use better memories to intensify your joy...
Soon, you'll find that the happiness here is better than past... that the joy in the present place is better than remembered.
Nothing is better than the blissful clear light of here, now, in this space...
You feel good when you want to, so remember to feel good now.

My note: The following exercise is something I have personally used for the last 2 years, every day. This technique is the most powerful way to use the law of attraction that you will ever find. If you have proficiency with energy work, this one is pure bliss. Dr. Morris says this technique makes you the way humans are supposed to be: relaxed, calm, happy, confident, sexy, and orgasmic. I can attest to this statement. This technique is pure magic if done every day. You will transform your brain so that your natural state is happiness, cool, and confident. This technique alone has brought so many amazing things in to my life, I really cannot due it justice with words. It has transformed my brain.

Tantra Tips -- Transformation in Spirituality, S*ex, and Awareness:
Dr. Morris's Secret Smile and You
Glenn Morris, PhD., ScD., our dear friend, and one of our most important teachers, had a particularly simple and powerful take on transfiguration.

He liked to recall, amplify, and project seven particular emotions. He called them his "Secret Smile".

He recommended vividly recalling an instance when you felt each emotion, one at a time, amplifying the feeling, letting the memory go, but continuing to breathe the feeling though you for at least 3 breath cycles.

Then, he would say, switch to the next recollection/feeling on the list, conjure up a memory of that feeling, and begin the process again.

But as you get better at the technique, as you let go of each memory, leave the feeling in place as you move to the next memory/ feeling.

Soon you'll be feeling all 7 positive emotions at once. Practice daily, even hourly, and you'll be able to do this at will.

Here is the list of feelings for Dr. Morris's Secret Smile. Relax, recall, breathe, and smile your way through each of them in turn:

relaxed calm
confidence / pride in accomplishment
happiness/ joy/ laughter
love/ loving/ being loved (individual love / universal compassion)
gratitude/ profound gratitude
sexual/ sensual pleasure, orgasm, ecstasy, bliss,
absolute awe at the universe and all that is/ magnificence / splendour
Try those for yourself... if each breath takes you 12 seconds, the whole Secret smile will take you only 4.2 minutes... That's 4.2 minutes of complete and total happiness, just for you... and all beings...

Tantra Tips: Transformation in Spirituality, S*ex, and Awareness

Transfiguration while making love

Three things make lovemaking tantric - transformative, expansive, liberating - even without a partner. Transfiguration is the biggest of the three - We'll discuss the other two at a future date, but for now, be this, here, now...

Before, during, and after lovemaking, s*ex, self-loving, or fantasy, experience this: move your focus to the subtley attractive. Yes, that's right -- Instead of focusing on the obviously attractions, on your habitual turn-ons or fetishes, focus on the subtleties that attract you -- the nuances that make the little hairs on your arms stand up, or make you shiver.

Breathe those experiences, those feelings through your whole body. Allow yourself to truly feel each one.

Let the feeling expand within you, and then beyond you, reflecting it back to your lover, and beyond, to the consciousnesses of the entire universe, dilating. Then move your awareness to the subtlties again.

Be aware of the subtlest glances, the tiniest tremors in breath and muscle, the ever-so-attractive but fleeting image, scent, breath, sigh, moan, touch or taste, and allow each to further magnetize you.

Breathe each experience through you, subtley, then reflect the feeling back, without trying. Don't think, feel, let be as you move and breathe, effortlessly.

As with all transfiguration, experience, recollect, circulate, amplify, give back, and then begin all over again...

Go beyond the attractions of the body and personality. Go beyond the self-aware confidence, beyond the clothes, the job, the lips, the hips, the laugh, the back, the breasts, the shoulders, the arms, the smile, the eyes, and experience the "soul" of it all... what's left when everything else vanishes, flashes of light and dark. Beyond words, beyond thoughts, beyond the fantasies you project and the fears you hold on to, beyond the beyond the beyond...

into the real you...

"Tantra believes...that instead of suppressing pleasure, vision, and ecstasy, these feelings should be cultivated and used, because sensation and emotion are the most powerful forces in human beings, which should not be crushed out, but harnessed to the ultimate reality. When properly channeled, they are able to provide a wonderful source of energy in human body to equate it with the cosmos, and the Sadhaka (practitioner) can achieve bliss and release in a single life-time."

Hello malganis and All,

Very worthy post. From the scant interest shown (replies/views) many are missing the importance expressed in it. While as expressed here, Left Hand Tantra is at play, I do use the Middle Pillar aspect in a modified form primarily, yet there is great beauty and power performing the ritual in full.

Yes indeed, the process is highly applicable to modification for many uses, and that is "what", as I see it, overlooked by some.
