Swords a heavy weight in my Buddist Spirit

 To be honest I don't know were to post this. I have a few swords I used to collect. The cops took one of my swords (don't ask me why) but I do not care. Even though something was taken from me I do not have any hard feelings. But my soul is lighter now. My purpose in life is not to collect symbols of weapons. As a Buddhist I can not Sell them, give them away nor can I keep them in my passion fore my soul can be thee no longer.

How does one then get rid of them?
any ideas?

I am only asking questions as I am interested in 'others'. What was the reason for collecting in them in the first place? Were they for use as an art display? For myself, when I see something I wish to look at it is for the Soul purpose of just enjoying them without attaching any labels to the object. If someone likes swords because they like swords for no other reason then I see no conflict with having them. If they have a secret desire to use it in an 'Off with heads moment' then I would Ask about the meaning of these things. One can put the swords in a box and put them away. We don't keep things in reality as we exit as we entered. Without a U-haul.

I'm really just thinking out loud here. I'm not for or against the swords. I'm just curious as to where we the idea of 'weapons' all originated from. Language just fascinates me and I am still discovering the many uses for it. I guess I didn't really answer the question........................

Greetings Julia.

Buddha was born to a great and generational warrior clan. I am sure when he was with them, he learned such things as respectful reverence for ceremony and their symbolism, weaponry was Zen to these clans, to be done in perfection of energy and control of mind. This matures the flesh with the Spirit. Spirit agrees to keep the bodies lineage alive .
The swords are a reminder of a sort - Buddha just walked away and left the swords behind, he did not need them to be reminded of how to feel. It was Zen, a part of his DNA.
I like to think when  he walked away that day from his warrior energy, he simply felt no need for a weapon. he had found unity with his Source, and that is what warriors do when they realize true power is such unity.
I would suggest you decide if you need the reminder of your warrior energy, if not, you will know who to give them to that would benefit from feeling the reverence of the power they symbolize. They are but a point of contemplation.

 Thank you VERY much Julia & Darrell! On the same day the cops gave me back my sword shortly after I posted this. So what does this mean?!

  To answer your question Julia, I enjoyed anime with swords such as Ruronie Kenshin & Samari Jack. It was a Ninja sword because I like Ninja video games. I am honestly a very peace loving person and a vegetarian. I don't really know why I want swords so bad. I now only take them to my back yard at night. Even though I don't want to really use them on someone I want to know how to use them. Like in the sword style Tai Chi. Perhaps they symbolize more then just violence. The Taoist monks also learn to use weapons & I am foremost Taoist.

 Now in days they aren't much of weapons. A lot of people have guns so a sword used as a weapon is very rare. I do not agree with guns at all, they are far to clumsy. I wish I was born as a monk, lol

I love synchronicity!! I appreciate you sharing the results here. It does work like this doesn't it. A don't make a big deal out of it. The funny thing is it is always going on, I just forget sometimes.

Maybe it means another way of saying what's happening isn't real!! We just forget we are dreaming and that there is any number of possibilities. Our only expectation is to show up and be surprised!!

I am Amerasian so I relate to the beauty of swords and also Darrell gave a wonderful description to a deeper understanding of having such swords. For me they are art forms. All of life has the possibility of being art. This is something I noticed as a child being influenced by the Japanese presentation of a meal. Beauty for the Inner as well as the outer. Good energy expressing and ingesting for well Being.

I do agree it has alot to do with 'how' we see, think and feel about things. When our foundation rests in Peace as in Knowing Wholeness then nothing can take that away.

I don't know if I am going to get rid of my swords. I am still on a mission of detachment. I like to find beauty in things as well. I believe nature is art! The blue sky, green vegetation, and other plant life. If I see fake flowers even from a distance I say "yuck" to myself. I don't see any beauty in them. One might like them but I think they are dull & unlively. I am on a mission foremost to make art with my own cells. Thanks for your time you have a wonderful day too!
