Does anyone have a take on how shamanic journeys (to the lower world, middle world and upper world) relate to OBE's?  Are these journeys OBE's or an inner experience?

In my experience,

I would say that a shamanic journey is an inner experience.

I have astral projected many times with concentration alone, and a few times I have been to Peruvian shamanic ceremonies were I was to lay down and "go with the sound of the drum". In the Shaman journey, I did not concentrate, but just "let go" and though I was clear, I certainly did not project from my body, but did have one Big Lucid Dream that was influenced by the drumming. It was definently an Inner experience that let me discover my true spiritual intentions.

I heard the drum then "call be back to my body" even though I felt I didn't leave it, but I did come back to the "normal" state of consciousness.

You can learn a lot about your personal psychology with dream journies which teach mostly in symbols, but clear conscious astral projection and traveling is like a wack on the side of the head, showing you the absolute truth with no hidden meanings. I think that is why it is hard for most people to astral project: they(including me) are sometimes, just not ready for the Truth.

Inner Peace,

Hi Sheena,

Thanks for the response!  I agree that the truth is hard to face sometimes and gets in the way of a lot things!

I have done drumming sessions alone  with cds, and also in a group with some Native Americans where I live.  They have been valuable experiences.  I like the shamanic worldview that treats all of creation with love and respect.

There does some to be a difference between inner journeys of consciousness, such as shamanic journeying and phasing, and OBEs that seem to make a clear path out and away from the physical body.  I'm no pro, but both have offered clear cut experiences that were much more distinquishible than my usual dreams that require some interpretation.

Thanks for your input.  I haven't been able to find much discussion about the differences and similarities of the outer and inner journeys.  I know some think they are the same.

Blessings, DH

Hello!

I became very fascinated with the word "shamanic journey" and that you have actually met native americans and had an experience with them. That sounds very intriguing. Therefor now I was wondering if there are any CD's you can buy and listen to the drums, and engage upon a spiritual journey at home. Is that even possible? If so, can you recommend any CD's?

Thanks very much in advance and sorry if I'm not well read or my formulation is weird, I'm not that good expressing words in english!

Kind regards, Carl.
