Hi Julia,

From my posts in other sections of this forum I recieved a lot of guidance from you and John and understand the importance of meditating on my own without any props like cds to assist me.I am having a very hard time doing that though.I have attempted meditation on my own numerous times over the past 7 years and never seem to quiet my mind or reach a state of quiteness or inner peace that I hear others speak about. I am sitting up straight and it is quiet in my home when I am doing this.I take some deep essential breaths and focus on my thoughts without juding them.I allow them to be.They never stop coming though, I never reach a place of no thought.I have also treid just focusing on my breath and I get so antsy I can only sit there for 5 or ten minutes before the urge to get up takes over and I quit.

On one of your posts in this board you spoke of a cd that helps clear your energy and helps with meditation.

My question for you is this. I understand I need to mediate without props but I can't seem to do it correctly or simply am not understanding how to meditate correctly.Would the cd you recommend above be helpful for me in your opinion and if not is there any meditation tutorials you can direct me to that can help me learn to meditate on my own effectively?

 I am also reading the Science of Being and am having trouble with the mentle contact as well because I never reach the silence that is talked about.How can I enter the silence if I never get there or quiet my mind?

I appreciate you and thank you for your genuine question. I am picturing you sitting there and unable to be still with your thoughts... The first part of meditation is to empty the mind of thoughts, yes Julia, I've been doing this for awhile and that is what isn't happening. The thoughts keep coming. Yes, I understand.

You are experiencing the initial stages of meditating. How? You are very aware of having alot of thoughts and they aren't stopping are they?. Truth. Before this, you were having all these thoughts and were not even aware that you were. Now, you are 'seeing' just how many you are capable of juggling. You are making 'head way' Progress in your even being aware of all these thoughts. Most remain in autopilot and just let them continue to run without thinking about them.  It begins to make sense, the saying 'scattered brained' or 'monkey minded' chatter. I am not calling you names here Daphane, I am relating with you on this. I too went through this very same process. Once I became aware of just how much noise or how many voices were in my head (a Sybil moment), my 'prayer' became 'HELP!! Serenity Now!' Stop the racket!!

This is your opportunity to keep up with them (identify them) by getting a blank piece of paper ( a notebook or journal) and jotting down the thoughts you are experiencing. I will humorously say, just try and keep up!! This is stream writing because you won't have an opportunity to focus so much on all of them right now, you'll just be writing fast and furiously to keep up with them. The ones you miss, let go, trust me, if they want to be heard they'll show up again.

Now, give it a rest and go about your day. Just keep doing this and making this a habit. And you will most likely want to go over what you have written, take a peek at what you wrote. Certain thoughts will pop out at you after awhile and then you will begin to recognize ones that seem to repeat, perhaps a different name or scenario yet a familiar association of emotions related to these thoughts. Hmmm... a dinging within yet not quite clear enough to make it out... It's coming.

You are releasing and as you go with the flow of chatter, the deeper you will access you deeper thoughts. Patience is a biggie here. Why? Well, I don't know what 'age' you are playing in your current movie however it may have taken you awhile of allowing these thoughts to run on autopilot, free reign and they are not going to go graciously at first. They are all fighting to keep a hold of their place in your mind. Just keep doing this... it becomes more and more clear.

Once certain thoughts begin to stand out, ask to be shown which one is affecting you the most right now, what is the message in this or these thoughts you are holding on a (person, place or circumstance) and say thank you for showing me and go about your day truly. You will now begin to see how well you leave it there. Truth. How? You'll find yourself arguing and wrestling with this or these thoughts and catch yourself more and more at it and begin to realize how much you tend to hold onto it by picking it back up and taking over the how to of fixing it. Yes. It's hard to let go of control. Our hands have been molded over the faux pearl for so long that it takes awhile to stretch the hand back to open position and let the blood flow back in.

Now, you begin to practice the art of handing it over and really learning to Let Go or unlearning how to hold onto it. As you go through this step, you will find that you 'want' more time to yourself as the 'responses' show up, to find out more. I want more quiet space to myself because the Energy of others is distracting to your desire for experiencing this peace. You will get to the place where this is not experienced as much and then arrive at the place where your Peace is intact and not easily removed.

Taking yourself out of your home environment and into Nature is very helpful in this practice. Why? Because you have removed yourself from your 'comfort' zone and can make excuses easier to not have time to do this due to your being loving to tend to others nature. Make sense? Now, outside of you comfort zone, you will be left alone unless you invite someone into it. Do. The UnSeen ONE. Talk to this ONE like you were talking face to face with me. You don't have to change your voice or position to do this. Just show up and talk like you always do. You can stream your conversation in your blank page notebook and when you receive your InSights (aha's) write them down.

I InCourage ones to date the entry so that when the response comes and IT does, you can enter it next to the original entry with a different colored pen or pencil or a bold star. As you review your journal will begin to see how you are indeed answered and this will build your faith and trust in your Inner Self's care for you and your Inner state of Being will grow quieter. That is what Faith and Trust does. Gives you Peace and Knowing Awareness that All is Well and will be.

Sounds hokey Daphane. We make it way too hard. I meditate while washing dishes, showering, driving, making a meal, gardening, and on and on. This is after 30 years of being a 'student'.  I have shared the process with you because the way I was shown can be done by anyone anywhere.

I trust these practicals will benefit you should you decide to try them. We are very reluctant to give up our habits, to change so be patient with yourself in the process. You will have days, weeks and even months maybe a year or so of not doing these things yet when you return to them, the benefits will be recognized immediately and more so than when you first began to apply them. Why is this? Because we are creatures of habit Daphane and sometimes we have to be really 'bad' at something to become very 'good' at something. Your awareness will shift after an absence. It becomes more pronounced this idea of meditating.

For now, don't just sit there, write those thoughts down, observe how you feel once you do this. It is like getting a load off your chest or out of your head...

Let me know how you are doing and I am here as all others to come alongside and give you a HIGH FIVE that you are indeed right where you are meant to be in the process of getting In Touch with your In TO I in motion. Intuition.

The old chattering thoughts. They once took over my entire life to the point of being "Obsessive Compulsive" I did not realize  how to get rid of them until I found meditation. I do not recommend herbs or drugs but one thing that got me over the hump to be able to understand and control them was a herb called White Chestnut. I would take a few drops 15-20 minutes before meditation (for around 4-6 weeks) and in no time I was able to push them away. Now after a little practice I quiet my mind in seconds. Any quality natural remedy store carries it. Or its available online.
I believe it to be safe, but do your own research. It seemed to be very effective in my journey. Once the chatter is eliminated and you are able to slow everything down the benefits are endless.

Thaks Julia so much.I will practice your suggestions and write my thoughts down.I am very aware of them and pay attention to them all day long so writing them will be no problem for me.The post I was speaking about was about Edwin Harkness Spina and the clearing cd he offers.  This was an older post from back in March.I was reading through the old ones and found it in the December 21 2012 board.

Your Daphane, Hi,. Won't even try to explain why I like to use ones log-in name.
You have good suggestions already posted, by Julia and Vibra, may they be helpful.

Getting a quite zone for me, was a trial and error thing. Doing backward counts helped. Still to much chatter. Also needed to tune up the visualization process. So, eventually got to using a 'candle' scene to practice with. (link below)
Here is my fumbling routine that finally did the job for me.

Look at a candle scene...
Close the eye's.....
Keep the candle scene picture on the mental mind screen....
Soon as mind chatter started, open the eye's.....
Look at  candle scene a few seconds...
Close the eye's again.

This was repeated over and over and over, until I could mentally 'see' the 'candle scene' for longer periods of time before the 'mental chatter' kicked in again.

Can now hold that 'candle scene' for lengthy periods. I also do the process anytime a need come up to quell a 'hurt' quickly, or just to have silence..

You are warmly welcomed Daphane and as you can see here there is more than one way to get into the quiet zone. I meant to mention about breathing as well. Just sitting and focusing on your breathing by being in a relaxed position like how you feel after a rush of activity, like you are holding up the walls with your eyes kind of feeling...

A take what speaks to you and leave the rest idea. Some count backwards, some take herbs, some write, some draw, some walk in Nature. Some may do all of the above. What this does is get you in touch with you and what works for you.

As a designer, one thing I shared with clients about the design I had created for them is; a design is a point of reference, not written in stone. Play with it and make it your own.

On that note, Thank you very much for showing me where the links were. WOW!! I did miss that one. Took me almost an hour of searching for it! I removed the links and the one in your response due to the all across the board fair play established here in the forums. You did nothing 'wrong' so I trust you will not take this that way. I was in error or oversight on this one and wow twice in one month.

We do this due to ones being affiliated with a site to earn income and using another ones site to gain more income and not so much for the edifying of others with Spiritual nourishment. The sad thing is there are indeed valid sites yet due to ones misuse of the priviledge we set a code of honor for all.

So, to anyone who sees a promo link to another site by all means let me know. I do not wish to take up bandwidth here in the forums yet I do miss things in copying and pasting and appreciate ones who let me know. And for the record, I am not affiliated with any site as in making money from sharing articles or points of interest.

Following the Intuits to share this regarding quieting oneself to meditate.

What is the noise level that surrounds you daily in your home? Do you have a tv going from first thing in the morning or a stereo? In the car do you immediately turn on your radio or cd player instead of driving in silence?

Many people are not comfortable with silence so they have these things on to 'keep them company'. I've noticed that ones who constantly surround themself with noise have greater difficulty with stilling themself.

We can untrain ourselves from distractions by making small changes like not turning the tv on first thing in the morning when you rise, or leaving the stereo off whether at home or in the car. When we do begin to do these things, after awhile, the noise becomes more obvious as a distraction.

This includes some appliances as well. Turn off your phone for awhile, cells and land line ringers, computers too.


I am finding that many cannot meditate because they are so filled with the energy of these things and it takes detoxing from them to get one into a quieter environment before one can even get to the place of hearing oneself think.

May this be helpful for someone.
