1  Myths and Mysteries / Myths and Mysteries / Re: "The Secret" ? What is the secret of that film? on: September 27, 2007, 08:36:23
Thanks for the kind words.

It seems lately that there has been much negative association with the law of attraction.  I think much of it is due to how people desperately want to have that magic cure that will make all of their ills disappear.  Unfortunately, that's not the case with any program i've ever known.  I've been finding myself in a position to defend the law of attraction.  I know Rhonda Byrne focused on material things in the book and the movie.  But that was just the "sizzle." That was to get sales, plain and simple.  The people who are benefiting from the secret know that the "steak" is the idea of creating your own happiness.  Material things may make you happy for a while, but its fleeting and oftentimes we end up not any more happy than if we were not to have that certain material possession.  But the real gift is the fact that we are capable of shaping our lives in any way we see fit.  We are not encumbered by our thoughts instilled in us through childhood. We are not a victim of chance or circumstance.  Anything we have done to negatively impact our life we can undo as well through a shift in our awareness.  Most people are not even aware of the crippling negativity we carry.

Case in point:  I work with this lady who is a very cynical person.  But I had noticed that she and her husband had sold their house, made a profit and managed to get a bigger house outside of town.  Their bills were getting paid and they were doing pretty well.  Then one day she comes into work and tells us that lightning struck her house and ruined some of their major appliances.  I had a quick thought and then asked her, "have you been thinking about what's going to go wrong in your life?"  She said, "I can't help it. It seems like every time things are going good, I wonder what's going to go wrong this time..."

She can't enjoy the good times in her life because she is so focused on what might go wrong. I'm sorry but that is not healthy.  Those thoughts become a self fulfilling prophecy.  Would her house have been struck by lightning even if she was using the law of attraction? More than likely, yes.  But at least she would have been able to fully enjoy the times when things were going well and her stress level was low.  But living with that nagging negative thought in one's head keeps them from enjoying the present, and more often than not, becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

The law of attraction is about happiness.  Material things may or may not come, but being able to have a grasp on the direction of your life is priceless.
2  Myths and Mysteries / Myths and Mysteries / Re: "The Secret" ? What is the secret of that film? on: September 26, 2007, 13:22:38

Film “The Secret” tells us that the  mightiest, the richest people of this world such as the Rockeffers and the likes, had a “Secret”, and now this secret is being revealed to the masses. Indeed, they had a secret - they all belonged to an ancient secret society that had an agenda from the very start to rule the entire world one day. And this particular secret is now slowly coming to light – but not in this film.

What does the film “The Secret” tell us? If you want to be as rich as those richest people they mention in the film, first of all you have to love them, second, you have to hold a positive image in your mind of what you want, and third, concentrate only on that positive image in your mind. Specifically, you should not do anything about any negative aspect in your life. Moreover, a fear is installed – if you try to deal with the negative you will only perpetuate it, you will attract it to yourself even more, and by facing negativity or merely thinking about it you will create even more misery in your life. You are responsible for all the negative happenings in your life, even if you find yourself in a war zone.

But it is coming to light now that those rich of this world actually stage misery and those wars on purpose, so they would divide and rule, and install fear in people which would allow them to rule everybody more easily.

So, the “secret” process described in the film seems to play directly into the plan of all the mighty of this world. The message is:

- Love us, the mighty of this world! If you don’t love us you will never be rich like us since you will not have rich vibrations.

- Don't do anything about all the horrors we create and the way it affects your psyche and your personal life. If you act against it, you will embrace negative vibrations and perpetuate your misery, and thus will never be rich.

- Live in a happy (or apiring to be happy) bubble of your affirmations and imagination. (While we take complete control of the world, your psyche, your human dignity, and enslave you totally?)

Could this film be actually a New-Age(y) propaganda from the Illuminati?

Yes, indeed, one has to act from the most positive, the strongest, the most loving God-like part inside to achieve anything of real value. One has to act! Even in face of despair and adversity. But this film does not go to tell us anything about this.

I've read through this thread and I have to address some things.  First, the secret, or the law of attraction, is not the "end all, be all" of self awareness or self improvement. It is merely a tool that can be used for a greater self awareness.  If you do not want to use it, fine.  There are many other paths that will get you where you want to go.

Secondly, i've read the book, seen the movie and read many works from the featured teachers of the law of attraction.  I don't remember anywhere about having to love the Rockerfellers of the world in order to utilize the secret. I'm not sure where you got that from.  No where does it state that the Law of Attraction wont work if you don't idolize the rich and successful of the world

Thirdly, the film and book clearly states that "fighting" against negative things will only breed more of the same.  It does say that. HOWEVER, that does not mean to look the other way and sit contentedly and wait for your riches.  The best way to combat something is to focus your attention on its opposite.  Hate war? Be pro-peace.  Hate drugs?  Be pro-health.  You see, by focusing on the positive aspect you take away the power from the negative aspect.  That's something I have always believed, even before learning about the Law of attraction. It reminds me of a line I read somewhere: "Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity."

The film does talk about responsibility and action.  It is not about just sitting there and waiting.  But it goes a little further than that.  You must be open to those "gut feelings" , those intuitive notions that lead us in the right direction. Then act on those. My parents always used to say, "go with your first mind."  That is to say, when faced with a choice, the most obvious answer is probably the correct one.

Call me gullible, naive or whatever you want, but I must say again, there are several paths to follow.  What works for you might not work for another, and vice versa.  If all I get by applying the Law of Attraction is a calm soul, then so be it. I may be different than others in that I look at the law of attraction as a tool for developing my emotional wealth.  I'm not saying I would scoff at material wealth either, but the main thing is happiness.  I have definitely felt more happy since applying the law of attraction in my life. But it isn't "the answer." It is merely one answer among many.

See? That wasn't so hard, was it?  That's the kind of thing i'm talking about.  I'm not so arrogant as to think my opinion is unmovable.  Especially when the vote is still out.  I am just tired of hearing people that are so quick to dismiss things they don't fully understand.

I knew I'd get a great perspective on this from this forum. Gives me a lot to think about. I love this place!
4  Religions and Traditions / Religions and Traditions / Re: Stories that make the Bible on: September 01, 2007, 11:12:59
You know, i've oftentimes wondered the same thing.  I've asked ministers and other christian leaders about this and usually the answer I got was that it doesn't matter because God wouldn't let his message get distorted and that "all scripture is inspired by God."  The concept of all the scriptures being inspired by God doesn't really do anything to convince me of the "inerrant" nature of the bible.  I mean, for example,my wife could "inspire" me to write a song about her, but that doesn't mean it would be something that she would have written.  And it may not be a song that she even likes!

5  December 21 2012 and Earth Changes / December 2012 and Earth Changes / Global warming on: August 31, 2007, 22:22:04
I would like to know some opinions in here about the global warming situation.  The thing that upsets me about the whole discussion is how many people in my area wont even dignify it with discussion.  They say that it is just climate change, we humans don't have anything to do with it and then they drive off in their SUVs.  True, maybe the media is sensationalizing it a bit; i'll give the dissenters that.  But all the carbon emissions we dump into the air can't possibly be a good thing, can it?  Or does it really matter on the grand scheme of things?  Like George Carlin said, "the earth will be fine, WE'LL all be gone but the earth will be fine."

I dunno.  Maybe it isn't as bad as people say.  But damn, not even an acknowledgment that we could be partially responsible?

Hello Daruma,

There are many layers to these interventionist myths.

I am personally of the view that mankind was "altered" around a million years ago, causing mankind to become the "dominant" species.

I am not so sure about Nibiru; it seems like that Secharia Sitchen mis-translated some parts of the cunieform text.

That said, there is a vast amount of evidence of ET intervention throughout history. Human DNA, apart from the fact thereis supposed to be 12 strands instead of 2, contains many imperfections. The Universe never, ever creates anything that is imperfect, so this would indeed suggest ET tampering, and botching, probably by trial and erros in ancient times.

In Lak,ech,

Adrian.

Could you suggest some reading(on or offline) about genetic tampering by ETs?  Sounds interesting...
7  Abundance and Health / Abundance and Health / Re: Building a better body through the mind-Excellence without Action? on: August 29, 2007, 13:42:36
It's pretty simple. I go through the entire exercise in my head, and take the time to feel which muscules are going to be used.  I envision the muscule group i'm targeting working perfectly to execute the movement.  Then I go through the exercise again, this time focusing on breathing.  Then I go through the exercise a third time, paying attention to the support muscules and posture.

It sounds like a lot, but when you go over it in your mind it doesn't take as long.  And based on the difficulty of the exercise, I focus more on different things. For example, I find the barbell bench press difficult, so with the more difficult exercises I'm going to focus more on correct posture, breathing, and balance.  Even with really heavy weight, if I mainly focus on doing those three things, the weight will keep inching up, almost automatically.  For exercises like the lying hamstring curls or back rows, I tend to focus mainly on breathing and muscule contraction, since it's difficult to see those muscules. As a matter of fact, it's important for me to visualize those muscules contracting when I'm actually doing the exercises becasuse of the lack of a visual point of reference.

As for aerobic exercises, I usually put a little emphasis on posture, but the big part for me to remember is to KEEP BREATHING.  I gotta focus on that.  Notice a pattern here?  I believe breathing is the most essential part of any exercise.  Kinda like meditation. It seems to be easier for the mind to do what you want it to when you initially focus on the breath.

There's another key I've applied to my workout routine.  I keep repeating to myself, "too easy!"  I got the idea from a U.S. Army documentary. There were about four or five men and women and it tracked their progress through basic training. At one point, their drill sergeant listed a bunch of tortuous physical activity. But then he would punctuate it with "too easy, hooah?" At which all the recruits would yell "too easy, drill sergeant!"

I remember thinking, "what wonderful motivation!" With two small words, this drill sergeant was setting up a positive mindset for the recruits.  He expected them to believe these extremely challenging situations could be done, and with ease. All throughout the documentary, I saw these recruits put through the ringer.  And every time they looked beaten, their response would be "too easy."

I try to apply that to many aspects of my life.  If I label a difficult task as one that's "too easy", then I am more likely to approach it as a challenge and see it through until completion.  It sounds like mere positive thinking, but it goes deeper than that for me.  The phrase "too easy" is my reminder that we are more than our physical manifestation.  Just as a weightlifter will "recruit" other muscule groups the chest to complete a challenging bench press set, so we too should try to remember to "recruit" our mental faculties in order to complete tasks that are seemingly impossible in our physical realm.
8  Abundance and Health / Abundance and Health / Re: Raw Vegan? Why? on: August 27, 2007, 22:01:46
I've been slowly changing my diet over the past seven years.  I still have a LOOONG way to go before I get to the raw vegan stage. My thing is the good feelings I associate with food.  Barbecues, holidays, special occasions, etc, are always filled with food, especially meat and cheese. The good feelings I get eating loads of food are mainly psychological, I know.

I just figure I have a ways to go. Slow and steady wins the race, right? I'm trying to focus on changing things a bit at a time until they stick, then move onto the next thing.  I'm done with most, not all, processed foods and most refined foods, so that's good.  And it's only a matter of time before I get back to eating the way we are all supposed to.  Wish me luck...uh, I mean, pass some positive energy my way!

I figured it was something like that. My mistake.

I have noticed when I visualize the exercise before I do it, not only can I lift more weight, but also lift it with better form.  This also works with aerobic exercise.  I tend to feel less fatigued when I, for example, visualize myself running in midair.  It sounds silly but it works for me.  Thanks for your suggestions!
10  Abundance and Health / Abundance and Health / Re: The Secret on: August 26, 2007, 23:37:40
I know this topic hasn't been discussed lately, but I had to ask my question.  I'm a generally positive person, so the Law of Attraction makes perfect sense to me.  My only problem is that I haven't manifested anything yet.  It may have to do with my many desires.  I tend to think of them all at once, and I did notice from one of the earlier posts that it may be beneficial to focus on one thing at a time.  But is it possible to manifest many things at once?

Another thing I love to do is to write out small little stories about how I would like my life to be.  I start with waking up on a typical day in my dream life and ends with my going to bed after a perfect day.  It is a great way for me to really focus on what I want and really gives me a detailed picture of many of my desires.

Now sometimes I put a time frame on these stories(ex. this October, or next St. Patrick's Day) but many times I don't.  Would it be more effective to apply a definite date every time I write one of my visualization stories? Would it help the Universe to deliver what I want in an actual point of time instead of just the "future?"

I just finished reading Adrian's latest newsletter. It makes sense and I really believe that many could indeed bring about physical transformations with the Mind.  Like this part:

The fact is the Subconscious Mind is infinitely capable of bringing
about any change in the physical body whatsoever, including a
muscular, healthy physique, without ever visiting a gym or using
any physical equipment or other exercise or workout processes.

I go to the gym regulary, trying to change my physique.  I would love to not have to go to the gym, not because I hate it, but I can think(and oftentimes do) of many other more productive things I could be doing with my time.  Is there anyone in the forum who has managed to change their physique or has known of anyone who has done this?  I would love to hear about it!

I went to the Kryon website, and although I've only read a few of the channelings, I must say I was pleased at what I read.  Some of my opinions that I have about spirituality, have been confirmed. It is very interesting and is worth the time to read.

14  Myths and Mysteries / Myths and Mysteries / A real stumbling block to meditation... on: August 23, 2007, 20:41:09
I decided to repost this with a new subject line so maybe the members of this forum won't think I'm joking.

I've always believed that there are other beings who live on other planets.  And not too long ago, I read that some advanced alien civilizations might be able to visit earth virtually undetected by traveling withing the astral planes.  So sometimes I am afraid to go into deep meditation because I'm afraid I may "summon" up some aliens by way of accessing one of the astral realms.  This started as a random thought in the back of my mind, but sometimes I dwell on it to the point of it being a stumbling block for meditation.  Do I really have anything to worry about?

By the way, I know this sounds really strange, but it's been bothering me a lot lately. So I hope I don't get laughed at too much in response to this post.
