This is known as Cree Prophecy

"Only after the last tree has been cut down
Only after the last river has been poisoned
Only after the last fish has been caught
Then will you find that money cannot be eaten."

It appears to be a shortened version of the legend “Warriors of the Rainbow”.Money is not mentioned in that legend, but is understood. This legend seems to be common to several Native Amirican tribes, and exists now in a written form, as if coming from different sources.

The story was also compiled by Lelanie Fuller Stone "The Cherokee Lady". Although it is said in the text that she got the story from her grandmother, she actually attributed it to an old Cree woman.
