So I was reading this thread: http://www.ourultimatereality.com/forums/christianity-is-yet-to-be-discovered-t579.0.html

And Julia's and Adrian's posts were very interesting to me, but their posts on TV were very concerning to me, because I have
a brother and he turned 7 years old back in January. From a very young age he has been very addicted to TV, now its gotten
to the point where he will kick and scream when you try to turn it off. I was kind of concerned but not very much till I read that
post now I feel that I must do something.

In my brothers defense he watches so much TV because he really has nothing else to do around the house, and also because
my dad is also a TV addict. So I guess my question is what should I do? I presume it would be easier for my brother to realize
source because he is so young? Pretty much I'm asking you guys what should I do to get to him off the TV and start realizing
source? Also I am very lucky because any suggestion you guys have I will probably have the permission of my parents to do
because my dad is buddhist and my mom is catholic but more open minded than my dad.

Also, in school I am really starting to see what Adrian is talking about how the world is awakening. For example I go to a catholic
school but, I am beginning to see that a lot of people reject a lot of teachings. And in school we have to every year take a religion
course, but in grade 11 this course is a world religions course which I think is also helping people, because they get exposed to other
ideas. Another example is one of my friends always jokes that I get my answers from the universe because I do good on tests in
one class and I nap during them so I won't have to do anything else that class. I find this interesting because where would he get this
idea of getting intelligence from the universe? Also the same person became very interested in left brain right brain activities. I also see
a lot of other subtle things from people. I also know 2 people from my school that are like me, fully trying to understand the truth and subscribers
to Adrians newsletters.

So my question is what would be a good way to introduce people to spirituality. I was thinking of sending Adrian's newsletter, but I think
it is too deep to soon. I think it would be better to introduce them in a subtle and slow way to by pass their filters. For me I have always
felt something and then watching the secret everything made sense to me.

Thanks you in advance.

Dear Praveen,

The word here from my perspective as a parent with oh so little time at my hands ...would be "spend time with your brother". Take him out, go for bike rides, rollerbalding, play ball with him, go for nature walks, museums, go see interesting stuff that will be left with the two of you for a lifetime. Just spend quality time that is a lot of fun for both of you. Is sad that your father is not more involved with you guys, however if this is the situation there is nothing that can stop you living your life. Learn to be a child again along with your brother, get lost in the joy of the moment. Do with him everything that perhaps you wanted to do as a child but didn't know how to, never had anyone to guide you etc.. Talk to him - share, encourage him to tell you about his day in school, friends stuff ... then perhaps when you 'share' what you hold dear, which is your new found spirituality he will listen because is something his older brother is doing - and to small kids everything older siblings are into is cool, they will eventually want to imitate, follow etc.. however don't take it to far, talk in his language, tell him interesting stories, make it interesting.. do not be a preacher Smiley that is boring...

TV especially in summer - people should stay away from it.
When I was a kid I used to leave the house in the morning and come back late night, tired, dirty but happy - that was freedom!!! The only time my parents had problem with this was when work needed to be done around the house otherwise they had no idea what I was up to and I don't think it ever concerned them. I feel sorry for the children these days they have no freedom, you cannot even leave them home alone till they are past 12 and so on..  But anyway if you are the older brother you can take care of his safety etc.

Praveen dear the best way to realise source is to live your life - not the life of someone else projected on the screen or human invented virtual realities. You are a kind however your parents are adults and they have the right to their own choices, when you live your life you are actually doing the best for them and yourself.

My children have the same problem TV, computer games ... is insane!! anyway when I get home from work it doesn't matter how exhausted I am I get them out, and I do my best to do something everyday, and even that is small...

I am pretty certain Talker here will have some stuff to share on living life and finding joy away from TV, computer etc... I got to understand that he was a cool guy lively and taking joy ins simple things in life.

Hello Dear Praveen and All, smiley

I understand the concern you have for your brother and your thoughts being shared here are wonderfully expressing your observations ...

I agree with Laura and Robin in offering to be involved with your brother in doing outside activities by spending the time with him. I will also say that this depends on your brother's own willingness to be involved in outside activities as well and what interests he may have. Some do not care for outside activities as much as others. My own brother and I are quite different in this area.

There are many online sites filled with activities for children of all ages to do when going outside is not an option based on weather or preference. Science projects using around the house items and arts and crafts and books to read as well. Most children do enjoy being read to especially if animation is used in ones voice. And music is Universal, children love making music or noise in the beginning! smiley

While ones parents are a big influence in ones environment, you can be one too and if your dad is a big tv watcher then there isn't much you can do about his choices.

As Laura shared here, you must be the change you wish to see and while it can be difficult to observe another doing what you would not choose to do, it is a part of learning to let go of another's choices and continue on with your own life. This is a big 'lesson' in life as we can find ourselves holding ourselves back from living our authentic lives, waiting for another or others to come along...

I do trust that all is going along in the Divine Plan and that you are being shown what to do in this very moment, your observant nature reveals this.

You are very perceptive in acknowledging that something may be too deep for another yet, it's a planting of the seed and they can decide for themselves, as one never knows ...

The opportunities arise like when one asks you questions like, 'what makes you tick?' And this is an open doorway to all kinds of open ended conversations to share along with realization that ones are picking up on your loving energy ...

Keep the faith and keep on Being the Light you are.

Much Love to you in Spirit,

Julia cool

Hello To All,
Ah yes the tender nostalgic memories of yesteryear. Television was a new kind of talking box with pictures when the kids were in their formative years. Dad was also into electronics at those times. So the situation is dramatically different now in comparison.
So what was done at those times!
As each child reached certain ages, they were introduced in one way or another to:
Games like 'kick the can'!
Rover, rover 'let (kids name) run over, and they to try to break through the opposing teams interlocked hands.
How to take apart a wagons wheel to apply a tad of lube, to stop a squeak.
How to clean hundreds of salvaged bricks, to help dad make a Huuuge heart shaped wall of bricks, to plant flowers in.
How to pound nails into a '2 by 4' with a hammer, all their own doing.
How to use a tape measure and read the numbers.
How to use a saw to cut wood.
How to use all the new knowledge to build a small hut to play in.
How to build model airplanes.
How to get a kite to fly.
How to make a 'bed' to pass 'moms' inspection.
How to sweep and mop a floor.
How to use a soldering iron.
How to build a crystal radio.
How to roller skate.
how to build a set of 'monkey' bars.
How to climb a ladder.
How to climb a tree.
how to use 'shoe polish' to paint a picture on a piece of board.
How to roast potatoes in an ash pit.
How to know some things are hot and do hurt if careless.
The joy of reading.
Explain why bee's sting.
How a guitar and harmonica make music.
How to apply simple arithmetic to every day activities.
How to repair/fix  cars, radios, tv sets, washers, dryers, of course they helped.
Even allowed (to actually do some things) toward the repair.
How to tell what kind of bird is 'singing'.
How to pop, popcorn.
How to use makeup(girls) and after shave (boys)
How to properly use a telephone.
How to dial for help, in case of fire or other emergencies.
How to paint a wall, house, toy or bike.
How to wash dishes.
How to look-up new words in a dictionary.
How to use boxing gloves, and skip ropes.
How to use a wire recorder to capture sound.
How to take pictures with a simple camera.
How to throw crab apples and tomato's in a friendly duel.
How to plant vegtable and flower seeds that were all their own.
How to tell when dad or mom were getting angry about some thing.
How to use a microscope, binoculars, compass and magnifying glass.
How a magnifying glass can be fun or dangerous..
How to locate the Big and Little dipper stars.
Why one should not use to much soap in a front loading washing machine.
Why its not funny to tie dads shoe laces together while he's napping in a chair after laying new side walks all day.
How to drive spikes through pine boards with the bare hands.
How to bend spike with the bare hands.
Explain why cats don't move after being 'run' over.
How and why birds build nests.
Explain why glass windows break when stones are thrown at it.
Why it makes you feel 'funny' when you snitch and drink a can of dads beer.
How fun it is to play Monopoly.
How to play solitaire with cards.
Could go on and on here, but you get the message.
Kids have unlimited questions and curiosity, attend to the listening and showing.

Oh wow Talker!!

You really been a child Smiley. And some awesome kind of father as well. I wish I knew you before ...'planning' the attributes for my children father. Which were none.

Your family is really lucky to have you.

Wow thanks everyone, so I think the best thing would be to spend time with
him and talk to him. I do already do that but I can definitely do more of that
and find other activities.

Also one day I started talking about imaginary friends, and he told me that he has one
since the age of 4. And he hasn't told anyone because people at his school things
imaginary friends are for babies and people would think he is crazy.

Thanks

Hello Dear Praveen, smiley

Your opening up for communicating with your brother about imaginary friends is excellent. Truly. It is unfortunate that many feel that it is for babies and/or one is crazy to have one or more... I find this to be absolutely natural and encouraged my children to speak about them freely as in anything or anyone else.

They come to understand whom they can be open with or not. He is blessed to have you.

You are already a living example for your brother in encouraging him to see beyond the physical world. Sometimes it seems it has to be a big aha! kind of thing yet some of the most profound revelations come in the simplest of ways...

The link above, while originally addressed to Leila, I sensed captured your beautiful Spirit and so extended these thoughts to you.

Many Blessings, Be Well

InJoy this day!

Love in Spirit,

Julia cool
