s it relevant what language Jesus spoke? Only as far as the exactness of the texts is concerned. Were his teaching written in Aramaic, translated to Hebrew, and then to Greek, with the meaning lost in between? There is a strong evidence that Hebrew was an alive language at Jesus times. Quite a few Bible entries point to the fact that Jesus said something in Hebrew. He most likely spoke spoke both languages, and maybe even some more. However, his ministry was most likely mostly in Hebrew.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QumranAs for his teachings not being recorded at the time when he spoke, well, the New Testament clearly says that Levi = Mathew was a tax collector and therefore could read and write, and Judas Iscariot was put in charge accounting for money, so he probably also could read and write. Moreover, a Gnostic Coptic text
The Pistis Sophia states: "Jesus had three scribes - Matthew, Thomas and Philip"
