I've been wondering for a while now and I have not been able to find any answers to my question. Buddha came before Jesus as far as years go in our linear time concept. Did Jesus every mention Buddha or his teachings? Did Jesus every mention enlightenment or the concept of enlightenment without using the exact word? Do you think Jesus and Buddha would see issues/ideas on an eye-to-eye level or do you think they would have differing thoughts and opinions? Did they teach the same message?
Any thoughts/facts would be appreciated.
Justin

In Cambodia there is a statue of Jesus and Buddha together with arms over each others shoulders.
I think Jesus and Buddha taught the same things, just to different cultures. Jesus taught the transformation of Human Beings, which became extremely diluted to keep the masses from comprehending it, in order to create an elite order - but the act of trying to make it exclusive to a few prevented them from ever achieving it. Jesus was Buddha as Buddha is Jesus. '' Before Abraham was - I Am. " Early Christian teachings were the same as what we are all talking of here in the present. I do not believe Jesus or Buddha believed what is now written of them or their teachings. They would speak openly against the religions fashioned in their names. Just as Zen - in its inception had no written word, it is in essence non-Zen to have study materials about it. The more that was written of Zen, the farther from true Zen you walk.

Good Morning Justin, Darrell and All ~ Justin, you really are very interesting and ask the most interesting questions. I truly InJoy you my Brother. Darrell, Wow. Well said my Brother!! The Ones we call Masters came from different parts of the world in this illusion. They were from the same Source. Coming through the same Vibration or Ray. Jesus may have 'showed up' 500 or so years later, but the fact that we are Eternal and all return within to the Source of All Living reveals to me that Buddha was in Jesus while Jesus was here in physical form. The more we try to figure out Source or God the less we seem to know about our Source and we get distracted by looking at the differences and not the level or common ground. We look at the manner of what is being said. The essence is the same in all the Ancient and Sacred Texts. They all bring it down to One Point. Know Source and you will know All. Know yourself and you will know the Source of All. There are no books to teach this really as Source ~God~Tao is not defined by human language. Words are symbols twice removed. God is Presence. And Once you are Present you will know exactly what IT IS you are experiencing and IT IS not of this world, IT IS in this world as US. Love to All in Divine Spirit, Julia

Dear Julia, Justin and All,
Back at you sister. Yes, Justin you do ask great questions and introduce us to great thoughts. Thank you. All the research and studying does not get us to the experience of it, and when we do experience it, it is so far beyond any words to express, we just become the radiance of it.
Love to All Darrell

Thankyou both As I was reading in a book last night before bed, the author told a story of a zen master and his student. The student asked the zen master what is enlightenment; what is it like for you? The master replied, "When I eat, I eat; When I sleep, I sleep." In other words, he is saying he is present in the moment when he is doing something and focused on the task at hand where as most people in the world are lost in though, dwelling on past events, daydreaming or anticipating the future. This explains why there is so much chaos and turmoil in the world - people are only semi-conscience at best. And yes, I have always thought that. There is so much religious quarrel in the world for a few reasons. One, people grasp onto things so tightly that they Identify themselves with that they inflate their ego and it becomes a battle for right & wrong rather than moral or not. Also, they focus too much on the details so to speak and all they see are the differences rather than the common ground on which they stand - evolution and right action/thought. Justin

Hi Gretch, greetings all,
The book your reading seems right on the money. There is a classic called " Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance " it is a good read also even though it is a few decades old, but I think you will enjoy it. Yes, when I am sleeping - I am sleeping, eating- eating, the moment sees all your focus and all of your passion. While even if you are thinking of the life you want to live in the future, all goes into it then also. All the dialogues over what is right - wrong, How do we connect, what is the process?
You cannot get there, only Be there.
Love to All Darrell

Ahah! I love it Darrell! "You cannot get there, only be there." I never did like it when people say to me "you have to do this (whatever that is) if you want to get somewhere in life." To which I would reply, "where is there to get?" They would think I was being a smart-ass but I am really being serious when I ask it. You cannot get anywhere, it's all right here, open your eyes and see it!
By the way, that book, what does motorcycles have to do with it?
The book I am reading is called, "Awakening The Buddha Within." Very good book. I'm almost finnished with it and I'll probably have to reread it because there are so many nuggets inbedded within it.

Hi Justin, Darrell and All ~ Darrell's words are very wise my Brother. It is about BE HERE NOW. Now is how to experience Being Alive. My soul sister Jen is reading 'Awakening the Buddha Within'. We share what is coming through with one another. It is truly amazing how IT ALL flows together. We really get our knickers all in a twist by focusing on everything that needs to be fixed in an illusion. We are going about IT all backwards. So walk backwards. As a gardener, IT all begins with the grounding, the soil you are planting your seeds in. Nature is the greatest teacher. You see life, death as life, life, death as life. IT's ALL LIFE. And we are Alive when we pay attention and focus like we did as children. Children just children. They do not label or separate. It's learned. So we must unlearn to BECOME or BE in our Natural State of Being. Bringing bread to the table, Love you guys, Julia

Hello Justin, Julia and Darrel!
I heard that both Jesus and Buddha were anti religious. hmm...
I do not believe that Jesus is the reincarnation of Buddhism because that would then mean that not even Siddhartha can escape Reincarnation. I believe they were two different individuals living there final incarnation the only way they knew how.
So to day dream is not Zen? I am screwed then because I seem to day dream more then other people. Tis difficult for me to pay attention. Guess I'm not meant to be Enlightened in this life after all.
I love you all

I hope you are joking consciously or otherwise, ? there is a temple somewhere in India that states that the man known as Jesus studied there for a long time before spreading his teachings.

Hi HareOm, I am glad you came to this forum. Your wisdom is fit for Justin's question. So to day dream is not Zen? I am screwed then because I seem to day dream more then other people. Tis difficult for me to pay attention. Guess I'm not meant to be Enlightened in this life after all.

I am not joking. It is just to hard for me to "not daydream" in this life. Some people seem to just be born as dreamers who can't keep their feet on the ground so to speak. Daydreaming is just too much of a weakness for me and I am starting to question weather or not I want to me Enlightened so soon.

Hi All ~ Wave, will you stop IT? I didn't say reincarnation. Must be the way I look at things. Same Source and substance on the same Ray of Light stream. I see IT this way by removing 'time' as a factor. Actually, they are in us as well when you walk backwards into the Source of All. Daydreaming is wonderful. Just put some feet into them. Intuits and guidance coming from Inside Sources. I seem to be experiencing the process of touching ground in a deeper way, all these events or occurances are blending together, taking shape or form in a sense. So, relax brother, your in the same boat as the rest of us. I love you Wave, I am expressing Gratitude for All the wonderful Beings here and in my immediate circle. Love to you and All, In Divine Spirit, Julia

Aye. I am a habitual daydream myself. It is difficult for me to pay attention to things for too long that don't capture it. However, as lax as my mind may be, I do believe that I can achieve enlightenment in this very lifetime if I put the mind to it. Meditation is a process. It is about learning to be mindful of the moment and to always be presently aware. It's not controlling your thoughts or drowning them out. Rather, it is about observing them and then letting them go; do not follow them and carry out endless scenerios. Just be still and let go. Hope that helps.
