Me and my friend were talking today at work and he said fish is one of the best foods humans can eat, i did research and fish seems to be pretty good for you ( I'm guessing eaten raw skin and all) ...yeah, whatever lol

ANYWHO, i did some research on how fish is bad for you and found mostly just mercury level issues.  Any more evidence that fish flesh ISN'T good for humans? undecided "c'mon source, you're making me look bad lol"

Fish is not very healthy if at all. First of all the main reason why people believe Fish is healthy is because of the Omega 3 Fatty Acids known as Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosapentaenoic acid (DHA). However is this the best source of Omega 3 Fatty Acid? I think not. The Omega 3 known as Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA) found only in plant based foods such as Walnuts and in most other plant based foods in less amounts is much better for you. The reason is simple. From Alpha Linolienic acid your body can make its own (EPA) or (DHA) as well as other necessary bio-compounds. However if your body has to much DHA you can't make EPA or anything else from it. The body builds up with ALA but can't build the DHA or EPA down..

You might think that Fish is full of other Nutrients that are of benefit to the body but this is not true unless you eat it raw and your friend I am guessing doesn't eat it raw often. The way the claims make it sound is that fish is healthy no matter how it is. Nothing can be farther from the Truth.

Aside from Mercury which has absolutely no reason for being in the human body there are other hazards as well. If you remember correctly from other post here about diet and well being the accumulation of toxins in the body result in aging and disease. At first glance at a "fish meal" who can tell what was dissolved in the water in which the fish lived? Lets take a closer look at what this means.

Biological Magnification

Refers to the process whereby certain substances such as pesticides or heavy metals move up the food chain, work their way into rivers or lakes, and are eaten by aquatic organisms such as fish, which in turn are eaten by large birds, animals or humans. The substances become concentrated in tissues or internal organs as they move up the chain.

So basically the lower on the food chain you eat the healthier your food is as long as it doesn't contain Phyto-toxins of course. It's not just mercury either. I can't find it right now but the paint they use on boats do leak out into the ocean. Its concentration % is 0.001. It doesn't sound like a big deal but fish do live in that water and the fish humans eat feed on smaller fish. As it goes up the food chain you move the decimal one place over as such heavy metals and chemicals become absorbed by the animals fat cells.

Most people who claim eating fish and other non-vegan foods are healthy don't know anything about Nutrition and are speaking from a wishful thinking standpoint. Fish is an animal product that has a blood stream so it does contain to some extent Cholesterol. There has never been a case of a Vegan or otherwise being Cholesterol deficient. The human body makes all the Cholesterol it needs and there is not such thing as essential Cholesterol's. If anything the majority has too much LDL Cholesterol in which ONLY plant based foods such as Walnuts, Coconut and flax seeds have been proven to lower, do mainly to the Unsaturated fat that increases HDL compared to Saturated and trans fat that increases the LDL type. Farther more Fish doesn't contain any Fiber or Antioxidants of which is limited only to plant based foods. In closing next time someone says fish is healthy ask them why. They wont be able to give you an educated answer.
