Peace be upon all souls,

 For spiritual reasons and as a method for discipline the soul different religions encouraged their followers to fast at certain times. Whether you follow a specific creed or not, perhaps you might tried to fast as it is the food of the soul and its ideal remedy.
Here is a link for just a few of the mysteries of fasting. It would be more beneficial to share with others how your religion viewed fasting, and your own experience and spiritual growth through fasting.
