I am not so much sharing an answer as I agree with John, we cannot answer for another.What rises is the idea, whatever you impose upon yourself belief wise. So, I reworded your question to:

'I would like to know what are the Self imposed limits of freedom I have on the Etheric planes compared to the Mid-astral planes?"

Comparison might be a part of the misunderstanding if it does not move beyond the comparison. Just sharing thoughts flowing through...

I don't know what "level" I go to when I retreat into my mind, but there seems to be no limits.  I haven't tried to define where I go.  I know the OBE experiences where exhausting and prefer the other.  Is there a defined description?
