hi Tessa,

Yes I believe you were having an out of body experience. I have tried for years to have one but never really seemed to be able to. From what you say you seem to experience a lot of the common OBE side effects. A lot of people who have OBEs or APs often fall asleep in the middle of travel resulting in the Astral Body falling asleep or doing predecided things. In a way lucid dreaming is like this but in reverse. In a lucid dream you awaken in a dream instead of falling asleep in a projection. AP & Lucid dreaming is the same thing I believe.

YES!  I feel the same way.  All of a sudden I will be hit witha huge wave of deja vu - and it happens frequently - like I have already been here and done that or that I knew what has happend but there is a lag in which the physical is just now catching up to with what I already know.  Much of life seems very surreal and dreamlike - like a dense illusion.

It's cool to know there are others who are experience the same thing.  Most people don't get what I'm talking about when I mention it.  They are so invovled with the day to day things that preoccupy most of their time to notice.

yes, especially when it is cloudy,

a brief second of sun-gazing dispells the wide awake dinosaur like sl umber, the slow and sloth of an alert mind, the paradox blanket that caues you to drive with total silence, as if you were asleep, yet totally wide awake

this
dream
deja vu
the silence that can stretch out so that you are not sure "are these keys to my door even real, have they changed? what are they, how is this all here?"

punctuated by miles like grey clouds on a fall day

this is a spacey place to be, it is serene, its like sleep, but its not drowsy, and you operate very efficiently

now,

when i was 8, i would get strong flashes of "i feel like i am dreaming" and they were very intense, and its like being on a roller-coaster, and i'd mention it to my friend sometimes, asking if he feels it

its as if someone miles above your head has taken a peek through your eyes and in so the exchange you feel like you are somewhat composed of clouds though you are still "tethered" here.

Waking Life,

truly i set in my car just now and Morpheus came to me "what if you were in a dream which you could not awaken from, how could you tell the difference?"

Today I had...er...last night I had so many dreams that It was as if I had been in a time warp.  I woke up thinking it must have been atleast 6:00 pm when it was in fact only 1:30 pm.  (By the way, I work nightshift which is why I sleep so late to begin with - I go to sleep around 6:00 am).  I immediately went back to sleep and entered another dream.  In this one, I woke up within my current dream because I thought I had to get up to help my mom with something and thought it was 6:30 pm.  I was in a different house, couldn't find the bathroom and was moving rather lethargic - as if I were drugged.  I walk back to my bedroom only to find other people were in it.  I asked if this was there house and if I was here because I was dreaming.  They said yes.  I went back to sleep in that dream and continued to sleep/dream until 3:00pm realtime.  I woke up thinking it really must be 6pm now because I felt as if I had slept so long but it really was only 3pm.

I found this to be very strange.  Right before I went to sleep I recited a dream prayer by candle light for several minutes.  Then as I lay in bed I repeated "Now I am out of body."

Anyone else have similar experiences or something they would like to add?  I would be most interested.  Dreams/consciencenous intrigues me.

Hey,
I've been noticing lately that my dreams are becoming more vivid and complete in a sense.  For instance, now when I wake up, rather than just having memories of having had dreams and a few snapshots/storyline that went with them, I am like living the dream as I dream it and it is as if I am making conscience decisions while dreaming however it is not clicking that I am actually dreaming until I awaken.  Also, my dreams are more thoughtlike - like I am witnessing pictures that corresond to my thoughts rather than it being a dream per se.  In other words, I don't feel so immersed in it.

I hope that made sense and you were able to grasp what I am trying to get across.  Just ask me to clarify if any part didn't make enough sense.

Hi Justin,

In a LD you have control over the dream and you can change the dream while you are dreaming. You are aware that you dream and can act within the dream.

When I had out of body experience I was floating up at the celing looking down at myself .

If I understand correctly what you described sounds like the dreams I normally have - just vivid dreams. However several of my dreams actually occured several years later.

I'm no expert on this stuff. Your dreams could be more and I just am not aware of it.

Keep practicing and I'm sure you'll get them to happen.

my god you must have been exhausted when you eventually woke in the morning!!!!!

I haven't experienced anything quite like this, I have had dreams that I have tried to control as I didn't like the ending so wanted to rewind and have it end as I wanted to!  also I can remember having really vivid dreams as a young child, the main one i can remember is that I used to dream i was on the toilet having a wee, I would reach out for the toilet paper and it would disappear!! and I would realise that I had wet the bed sad (umm maybe shouldn't be admitting things like this, i was only about 6 though!) the only way I could break out of it was to give myself tests in my dream like reading the ingredients of the shampoo bottle whilst on the loo, if I couldn't do that I knew it was a dream . .. . don't know if that is vaguely interesting, or just very embarrassing on my part!!

I found it interesting because I'd like to learn to test reality so that I may wake up within my dreams.  I want to become proficient in Lucid dreaming and Astral Projection so that I may expand my awareness so I will be ready for dream yoga so I can finally connect with the divine light so that I may wake up from this dream once and for all. (enlightenment.)

How did you go about doing it?

to be honest it was such a long time ago I can hardly remember I was very young, about 6/7ish.  I think I did complicated things whilst awake, like reading the contents of the shampoo bottle which was full of complected ingredients that I knew I wouldn't be able to make up in a dream and then in my dream if I couldn't read the ingredients I knew it was a dream . . . easier whey your a kid i suppose not sure how i would do it now . .

yeah.  As kids you have a much more vivid imagination so it makes things easier to learn.  We adults are so silly and forgetful about what really matters!

Hello Justin and All,
Ah yes, dreams, the soul conversing with the inner-self. Understanding those conversations is another matter. Overlooked is the fact, that it takes some effort to know and understand that dream conversation. The people and symbols within a dream are special for each individual. Yes, there can be some commonality between all dreamers dreams, but consider that we all, are unique, with our own special inner terminology that will vary for each soul. While I had lost many records, through a flood, a dream log did survive. Interesting to reread and endeavor to relate what did materialize. At the time I made records of dreams, I kept a pad of paper and a soft point pencil near. Upon awakening, either from the dream, or upon arising in the morning, I would detail as much as recalled, and at times during the night and awakening, used keywords from the dream. Some symbols I was able to decipher, others made no impression. Perhaps I should pickup a 'voice operated' recorder, for better detail capturing.

I did post one detailed vivid dream:

(part of my blog post)
"But the gist of the dream was “I was able to actually read the files in the dream“. Even more to my surprise, “I was aware in the dream, that I never before was able to read text in a dream“. So while in my sleep, and dreaming, AND reading the text, certain questions came to mind. So I contacted the books author, with the questions from my dream. Now the good part. The author stated that “yes, what I had asked, was indeed, a matter he had, had under consideration for a possible future project”.

gretch
I have had heaps of dreams like u describe, in fact , most of my dreams are like that!
My suggestion is going to astralpulse.com, I think that is Adrian's forum. It is full of all dream adventures. Really fascinating and amazing stuff and heaps to read.

Talker, i have many times had books in my dreams, and I just cant read the words. It is very annoying and makes me wake up. I cant seem to read in dreams, even though I try for ages to read the words, I cant read them? huh  Well, it just makes me wake up. Maybe, if I remember what it was I was supposed to read, I could write it down then look it up later. Otherwise... I just cannot seem to read in dreams.

For the past week I have been practicing Dream Yoga accompanied with forceful zhine to assist in the process.  Dream Yoga is essentially maintaining awareness of the moment to become more mindful and eventually enlightened (un-interrupted consciousness).  I have noticed a considerable amount of more awareness throughout my day now.
Anyway, I am using dream yoga and WILD technique to carry my awareness over into my sleep.  That is the goal of dream yoga and enlightenment, to never lose consciousness, even when your body goes to sleep, the mind remains aware.

I am having a bit of a challenge.  The WILD technique is a Wake Induced Lucid Dream.  You're supposed to remain aware as your body goes to sleep.  I lay there and relax my body as much as possible (I'll get comfy and then won't move so I'll go into sleep paralysis.  The problem is is that my body never seems to reach that state.   I'll lay there for a half hour without moving.  My body will get heavy but it never falls asleep.  Eventually my neck starts to get sore/stiff after laying there for so long and I can't resist to move to another position.  I'll keep my mind focused by doing a semi-zhine technique by counting (breath in,1 ; breath out, I'm dreaming ; breath in,2 ; breath out, I'm dreaming; etc.)

Any advice?
