Channelling

I had a chance to read a number of channellings wherein the human being is being addressed by a spirit. I found the Channellings quite captivating and I presumed that the message therein was inspired. i had this feeling until I read "Jesus and 2012" in this website. This made me to start having the feeling that what I have believed to be true might be the false prophets that were said by Jesus would come towards the end of the Age.

What is the correct position, since what I have read in those channelling messages, agree with Our Ultimate reality - that Divinity is within ourselves and all we need to do is to attune ourselves to the Higher-Self to find it?
