I have a pretty unique upbringing because my mom is catholic and my dad is Buddhist.

Anyway I remember learning Buddhism a while ago and something I remember is something
like there 8 emotions. 4 good and 4 bad. And basically the teaching was that you can't always
be happy. The way I remember the teaching was that bad things are bound to happen in life.

I was wondering is this true. Or can you be happy all the time? Can the good times last?

Hi Emon,

Interesting upbringing indeed. I suppose your parents were not that serious and devout in their faiths. ?!? I ask because I have many friends, couples of different religious background, and in such cases they are not at all into the faith they come from.

Smiley Of course YOU can be happy all the time. Good times? depends what you 'see' as good times. Things come and go in life. One day they are up and after a while they go down. Is the normal course of life, and the sooner one comes to terms with this the easier it is.

However the good news is that no matter how life is or what it brings there is a 'special place' inside of us that has the power to remain unchanged in the face of events. That is the Center. The Source of our being. The place where we meet with Divinity and come in contact with sustaining Life Force Energy.

When One comes to know this place at the Center of our being, and be in contact with it, he or she is forever happy and unchanged by life.  In good spirits, cheerful and so on. Such a person cannot but bring more happiness into his/her life. Smiley

Hi thanks for the response.

And I cannot know for sure but I believe that my parents are pretty devout in their religions. I say this
because, they have had many fights about their religions and what I should follow. Even though they are
serious my mom was always okay with me learning Buddhism I believe this is because even thought she is catholic
she was always expecting of all religions because the reason she wanted me to learn a religion was so "I would be a
good person" She believes this is the purpose of religions.

And when I say good times. I mean situations and events that are good, that make me feel good and happy. I feel that
when I encounter these good situations, I will randomly get a flood of negative emotions and the good situation or
event or relationship will end. It's almost as if though when something good happens, I expect that it will end soon.
And then I will sabotage my self so that it does. This probably does not make a lot of sense, I know what I want to say
but I cannot seem to spill it out onto this message, so I will try and give examples:

Today I saw your post on EFT, and I immediately saw its potential, I tried it and it made me feel good. But my next
thought was "What if my body gets used to it and it stops working" This is what I mean good things just seem to stop.
Another example is if I have a good friend I will think of reasons why might not like me anymore.

These are a few examples and I am not sure if I was fully able to convey my thoughts. But my question is this normal?
Do good things end, and end rather quick. Or is "good" things ending because I expect it to and I sabotage my self?

Thanks for listening.

And also thank you very much for that post about EFT, it is greatly appreciated.

Dear Emon,

Your Mom sounds like a person with a lot of common sense and a very open Mind.

I think your parents conflict reflects the one inside you. Like what you just said

But my question is this normal?

At your age is normal to go through these conflicting emotions. Very normal. Smiley However with determination you will come to get over them:  over-come-them.

And yes of course a lot of things in your life go exactly the way you expect them to go, after all you are the creator of your Universe.
At the greater scale as I said things come and go is a normal 'tide' that happens and we do not have that much power. but a person that is always "centered within" (pay attention that this doesn't mean self-centered ...lol) - centered within means that you have discovered and KNOW the truth and from that point on all your thoughts and actions are considerate of the truth at your Center.

You are welcome Smiley EFT is a very good trick to get you over fast out of your negative ingrained emotions. Such are others like prayer, meditation, remembering good moments in your life and etc...

Good luck with your transformation. Sharing/communicating emotional stuff about these things is a very good starting point - is the indication that you are embarked on your evolution (change) Smiley

Dear Emon,

A very warm welcome to the forums!

And basically the teaching was that you can't always be happy. The way I remember the teaching was that bad things are bound to happen in life.

I was wondering is this true. Or can you be happy all the time? Can the good times last?

I believe what you state above is very wise, and how things are supposed to be on the Earth, to enable our spiritual evolution.

Actually, what makes events seem good or bad, is our own perception on them. Depending on our mood and expectations, one event is some times perceived as bad, while other times it can be indifferent to us, or even good.

We are here to evolve spiritually by experience, and only these events you talk about and we all face, constitute what we call "experience". If we were happy all the time, we would not have occasions to reflect, change our consciousness and grow.

The more "not awakened" a person is, the more they face challenges, to compell them to awake.

The more 'God realized' a person is, the less they 'need' to encounter 'bad' experiences.

So, I believe we meet such events during our whole life. As we evolve, we learn to not see them as 'bad' anymore, but know that we are mighty, divine Beings, and nothing in the world can hurt us, except for our own thaughts and beliefs.
We are here to express freedom, abundance, Unconditional Love.

'Bad' events occur in the areas of our life where we manifest attachments. They are meant to give us opportunities to let go of those attachments, and realize that all we ever could need is only Within.
As long as we don't realize this, such similar events keep occuring in our lives.

I liked very much Julia's sharing, which is indeed the way to gaining freedom and not be affected by what happens around:

When I began to become more aware of my authentic nature and still am, it never stops expanding smiley, I realized that when I focus on my own life I am able to extend the same trust for another that I have within myself and can allow others to do so as well for themselves.

It is in knowing yourself by being in the joy of the moment yourself expressing in your rightful place in the Divine Plan of Universal Divisity and allowing this to be so for all others.

Also, what Julia shared in the article "Let Go and Grow Happy!":

"You are always right where you need to be to take the next step beyond yourself."

We always meet in life exactly what we need, which allow us to further grow beyond our present level.

The only way to live more happiness and less sadness, till the happiness becomes everlasting, is to discover and strenghten your relationship with your Higher Self, the only one which can make you Whole.
Learn to listen to your Inner Voice, to follow your intuition, to 'live in the flow' permanently or most part of your life.
Thus, you can be sure that whatever you experience, is leading to your Highest Good, serves your spiritual evolution. If you feel sadness, it allows you to change consciousness and grow.

My opinion is that all young humans who chose to live on earth at these crucial times are very evolved Beings, here to accomplish their own evolution, as well as for assisting rest of humanity to make the transition.
Therefore, you are certainly more than prepared to face successfuly all that you meet, and fulfil your purpose.

Whatever comes your way, know for sure it is Divine Order, and give thanks for the opportunity to grow.

With Lots of Love and Blessings,

Leila

Wow thanks for that great reply. One thing you said really made sense to me. It really rang true
inside of me.

The more "not awakened" a person is, the more they face challenges, to compell them to awake.

The more 'God realized' a person is, the less they 'need' to encounter 'bad' experiences.

I think I have always realized this to a certain extent. That the purpose of our 'bad' experiences is to
learn from them. This was strengthened yesterday as I faced a situation that at the time seemed really,
really, 'bad'. It made me feel horrible inside. But as a result, I took action, I signed up at this forum and
made these posts. And got these very inspiring replies. Now when I think about last nights events I do
I am beginning to not think of them as 'bad' events, I almost see them as 'good' events because I found this
forum and the knowledge within it and especially EFT.

Also the next time I encounter a 'bad' situtation I will keep your quote above in mind and I know that will
help me.

Thanks again.

Dear Emon,

I am very happy that you found helpful my words. I wrote them from my heart, with greatest Love.

The 'bad' events you faced yesterday, not only helped yourself, but also myself. smiley I resonated with your sharing, because had similar feelings.
What you said made me reflect deeply upon my own mood, and gather together the rather consistent spiritual knowledge I gained so far, and heal myself of sadness. Realize that all is in divine order. See that I am not yet the Spiritual Being I thaught I was, but still hold attachments.
Events about which I wouldn't have cared much 3 days ago, felt last 2 days painful for me. It's all inner perception and expectation.
They obliged me to remember, once again, that I'm a divine being, and have within all that I need.

We, who joined this forum, are all evolved spirits, and face synchronicities in our lives. Exactly what we need happens all the time.
We know in our minds the 'theory', but without practice, it is 'dead'. Need the circumstances to exercise it, to express our true nature, above all events, which are, after all, illusions. All take place in our Consciousness.

As Above, so Below. As Within, so Without. We are the answers for our Happiness, not the World without.

I love you much,

Leila
