I got your newsletter and I have a  question. The letter was about affirmations. English is my second language. Should I do affirmations in English or in my native language.

Welcome to the forums

Affirmations should be in your native language. The objective is to impress your affirmatons on your subsconscious Mind, which in fact is receiving them in more of a symbolic form. But by using your native language you can be that much more precise, confident and descriptive which is very important.

I should add that in the Astral worlds, the "afterlife", language is meaningless. Communication is by the Mind in the form of imagery and other Mind oriented methods involving sending blocks of information which are Universally understood by all beings in the Universe.

This is why visualisation and imagination are so powerful; you are communicating with your inner self in Its native language.

I do have a comment on the language thing if I may:

I get my information usually from the internet and most of that, like Our Ultimate Reality, is in englisch.

I learn pretty much everything in Englisch although I am Dutch. This also includes software tutorials, etc.

I noticed that for me it's often hard to translate certain things into catchy Dutch words.

I'm also at such an Englisch level (despite certain spelling errors) that I often know & feel what an Englisch word or expression means without being able to translate it effectively into Dutch.

So can't I be an exception on the affirmation native native language - rule? I mean I sometimes even think in englisch

I have lived in an English speaking country (my first language is French)for a year and people with who I lived told me that I will have some dreams ''in English'' after some time and it happened. Maybe affirmations, if done often, might work after some period of times even if it is in a foreign language..... Maybe.... The only way we can know is if we try it; some may have better results than others of course. Try both and see what works best.

Hi Awakened Soul,

There are no rules with affirmations about what language should be used. The important thing with affirmations is the intent that you put behind it. Also, affirmations are best kept simple and straight to the point.

The words need to come from your heart. You need to use words that you feel comfortable with, that feel right to you.  If you can do this better in Dutch than in English, then go with that.
